Troy, Michigan, September 29, 2006 -- Dents, dings and scratches on one's car are facts of life.  In Detroit, they're even rites of passage.   They can also leave quite a dent in one's wallet.

Until recently, drivers with their fair share of dents and dings have had few choices when it comes to repairs, especially if they're leasing.  For them, the choices are either to shell out way too much money to a body shop or get slammed with excessive wear charges by the dealer.  Dave and Carole King, proprietors of Troy's, The Paint Panther, L.L.C., offer an alternative for both those who lease and own their cars.

Most body shops will replace a damaged bumper, even if it's repairable, without hesitation and charge from $500 to $800.  The Paint Panther will repair it without even removing it.  In fact, they are the only shop in the area that does this.

"We can repair it for $200 to $300," said Dave, who also notes that most bumpers are not biodegradable.  "Hundreds of thousands of bumpers are disposed of each year.  This makes bumper disposal not only a wasteful and expensive practice but one which is not environmentally sound."

The Paint Panther also offers paintless dent removal, minor body and upholstery repair.  Most jobs can be turned around within five hours and pick-up and/or delivery service is available.

The King's established The Paint Panther two years ago, after three years of providing the same services wholesale to area dealerships as a mobile unit.  Referrals from dealerships dictated that they open their own shop, which now stands near the corner of Maple Rd. and Rochester Rd.
